This is totally a practical workshop which aims to teach a Turkish folk dance choreography. 23rd of April is celebrated as The National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey. The founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, made a present of April 23 to all the World's Children to emphasize that they are successor of the future. Thousands of children around all over the world are hosted in every part of Turkey during the week and the World's Children are presenting their countries' folk dances and arts at week-long ceremonies in large stadiums watched by the entire nation.

After practising the choreography with big group, participants are asked to show a small demonstration of their own cultural folk dance with their costumes - please bring them along!

We do this for the following conceptual understanding: "Through exploring arts across cultures, places and times, we can appreciate that people innovate" and "People communicate across cultures, places and times through arts."
